Wear Your Seat Belt!

The automobile auction I attended was selling cars to benefit charity. Vehicles were classified as "running" or "no start". One of the no-starters was on the block. It had a shattered windshield, two missing tires, a sagging front bumper, a cockeyed grille, the hood sprung up at an angle and dings and dents everywhere.

Before he started the bidding, the auctioneer announced the car's year, make and model, then read these comments from the owner: "Please note, the radio does not work."

You Have All the Information You Need

by Rick Laing

God gave Joseph a vision of what he would become (Genesis 37:6-10). God did not tell Joseph it would involve kidnapping, slavery and jail time. He also did not reveal to Joseph that this was a brilliant scheme to save the family of Israel. But after the plan came to fruition, God allowed Joseph to understand it all (Genesis 45:7-8). God gave Joseph the information he needed to know at the time.

When Paul the apostle planned to go to Jerusalem, God told him what he needed to know (Acts 21:10-11), and Paul decided to go there anyway. When Paul and his companions were on a mission trip, the Spirit forbade them to preach the word in Asia. That's all they needed to know. That is all we need to know, unless another verse gives a hint.

We humans are curious, and we often want to know the answers to all sorts of questions, but the Lord has not given us the information. However, He has given us all the information we NEED to know (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:3). He has taught us how to live on earth in a godly way, and how to get to heaven. We have all the information we need to know. Let us be content with that.
