Wear Your Seat Belt!

The automobile auction I attended was selling cars to benefit charity. Vehicles were classified as "running" or "no start". One of the no-starters was on the block. It had a shattered windshield, two missing tires, a sagging front bumper, a cockeyed grille, the hood sprung up at an angle and dings and dents everywhere.

Before he started the bidding, the auctioneer announced the car's year, make and model, then read these comments from the owner: "Please note, the radio does not work."

No Good Deed...

An old bloke in our little Australian town fell on hard times and got behind in his rent. Desperate, he wrote a letter to God.

"Dear God, I've always been a good Christian and paid my own way, but I'm a little short this month. Could you lend me $100?" He addressed it simply "God" and posted it.

When the letter arrived in the mail center, the employees opened it, felt sorry for the old fellow and took up a collection. At day's end, they put $90 in an envelope and mailed it back.

A week later, another letter addressed to God showed up. They opened it and found this note: "Thank you, God. I knew you wouldn't let me down. I only got $90, but I reckon those blokes at the Post Office pinched the other 10 bucks."
