Read very carefully 2 Peter 1:5-7, "But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love."
We've all heard these defined many times and ways, but let's look at it one more time, maybe from a different perspective. Now we know that the Old Testament is still valuable to us today for the examples that are there (cf. 1 Corinthians 10:11) so that we might learn (Romans 15:4). So let us look at this list again and learn from some great people of faith serving as our examples:
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith the virtue of Joseph, to virtue the self-control of Daniel, to self-control the perseverance of Job, to perseverance the godliness of Moses, to godliness the brotherly kindness of Jonathan, and to brotherly kindness the love of Ruth.
How would our faith be if we emulated the positive characteristics of these great people of faith?
